breaking news stories are exciting, and, invariably, mostly wrong factually.
here is an example of a breaking item which could have very long tentacles indeed.
the spectre of an nfl player having a $700,000 /wk international drug business has very long tentacles indeed.  we can only speculate......
bears coach made some incongruoys potentially embarrading remarks at an afternoon press conference.
'sam was always a model citizen. we never suspected.'
then coach went on to say, 'i know these guys and absolutely no one on this team is involved.  i know these guys.'

Brad Biggs of the National Football Post reports Bears wide receiver Sam Hurd was arrested on federal charges when he bought a kilogram of cocaine from an undercover officer Wednesday night. Hurd was seeking to expand his network for purchasing drugs and according to the complaint he was already buying between $100,000 and $200,000 of narcotics per week.

The federal complaint alleges Hurd wanted to begin purchasing between five and 10 kilos of cocaine per week (at a cost of $25,000 each) and 1,000 pounds of marijuana per week at a cost of $450 per pound for his operation in the Chicago area. Hurd also sought “Mexican cellular telephones” because he believed law enforcement could not listen in on conversations on those phones.

The Bears issued the following statement: "We are aware of Sam's arrest and are continuing to gather details surrounding it. We are disappointed whenever these circumstances arise. We will deal with them appropriately once we have all the information."
