FREE WILLIE NELSON!
american icon, wonderful entertainer, wonderful person, willie nelson, age 77, who has done a great deal for people, including smoking weed on the white house roof during the carter years, has been charged yet again with possession of marijuana.
they stopped his tour bus in texas, while it was coming home from california.
willie nelson has been charged with possessing 6 OUNCES of marijuana, which was found aboard his tour bus IN TEXAS.
they pulled into a checkpoint and officers smelled marijuana.
they searched, found 6 OUNCES, and contacted the sheriff.
nelson was one of 3 people arrested.
sheriff arvin west, told the el paso paper that willie said, "it's mine."
willie was always a stand up guy.
he was booked briefly, posted a $2500 bond, and released.
willie was born in texas, loved music, and was a dj.
he was in the air force, had a bad back, and left the air force.
willie then enrolled at baylor university where he studied agriculture.
willie did a lot of song writing, but his voice was scratchy.
record producers didn't want to record him.
his first hit was blue eyes crying in the rain.
willie penned the patsy cline classic, crazy,
funny how time slips away, and hello walls.
willie did songs for the incredible roy orbison.
willie eventually morphed into the austin texas hippie scene, when he received several recording contracts.
he recorded lots with waylon jennings and did a lot of television work.
he had some problems with the irs, owing them $31 MILLION in back taxes.
he recorded and toured with johnny cash and the highwaymen.
in the 1980s there was huge success, with lots of money given to charity.
he sang on the we are the world single, and established the farm aid concerts.
AN AMERICAN ICON, WILLIE NELSON, WAS BUSTED FOR 6 GRAMS OF MARIJUANA.
what should his penalty be?
a texas sheriff and district attorney want to lock him up.
texas is certainly no place to be caught with drugs, even marijuana.
