in 1823, and for many years thereafter he publishedwrote, collected, and perhaps printed the weekly mansfield banner.

there was no electricity, no telegraph, no radio, no rails, and no film.

news came from other newspapers and word of mouth.

being a newspaper journalist can be a noble calling.

thanks to him and the archivists whose efforts have brought the news to us from a time when our young nation was only 50 years old.
