your hooch is radioactive

one of the interesting things about your drinking alcohol is that it's not legal unless it's radioactive.
oil well refiners have known for hundreds of years that you can make alcohol far more cheaply from crude oil than you can from grain, and even purer.
the wine and whiskey people, to prevent that, got congress and others to pass laws some time ago that it drinking alcohol has to be made from grain, and not crude oil.
all living things have carbon in them.
the element carbon has an isotopic cousin called carbon 14, that is radioactive. carbon 14 has a half life of about 6,000 years.
if you store the carbon for a million years(as in crude oil), all the carbon i4 is gone.
crude oil has no radioactivity from carbon 14, but natural grain does.
he law actually says that a litre of drinking alcohol must produce 400 counts a minute with a geiger counter, or it's not legal.
how's that, radioactivity alarmists out there?
inasmuch as perfectly good spirits can be rendered from crude oil, one wonders if any countries or cultures have legalized the product.
