our national debt is increasing thousands of dollars per second. changing fiscal policy will be like turning around an iceberg.
the tea party people got off their couches and TRIED to do something about this.
once they get involved, those problems will be far more difficult than spouting one liners.
"send everybody back to mexico," is a typical one liner.
"cut the pensions"
"stop spending"
they have to understand the size of the problem.
the job is bigger than those nice folks realize.
i hear this flat tax idea being thrown around. should i pay the same tax as a guy or gal with 7 kids?
federal spending so far this this year is 3.4 trillion. revenue is 2.1 trillion.
we are spending about 60% more than revenues.
as a society we are not overtaxes; we are grossly under taxed, for what we are spending.
we had a buffoon of a president who decided to fight 2 wars without raising taxes.
now the bills are coming due.
now we've a goofy president who has a million social programs he has no idea how to pay for, but he will do them anyway.
now we are going to bail everybody out, but we don't have the money. our 2 last presidents have no more concept of numbers or economics than your dog, or if they do, they don't care.
the flat tax would be great for me, but when a system is designed to decrease revenue, more gasoline will be added to the fire.
wake up. slap cold water on your face.
a family of four making $50,000 pays no federal income tax. they pay social security, medicare, and unemployment.
the same family making $100,000 will pay about $8500 federal income tax.
there's no way on earth that you can strap a 25% flat tax on this family making $50,000.
any scheme that you get, tea party or otherwise, to pay fewer taxes is NOT the solution.
WE ARE SPENDING MORE THAN WE ARE TAXING.
there is no answer other than spending less AND taxing more.
a plan where everybody pays less is not the program.
corporations now pay 8% of the taxes, which is abominable, because of loopholes lobbyts have had written into the tax code.
