i'm old school, i guess.
i remember the monday night nfl games which came on at 9pm and kicked off by 9:05pm.
last night's game came on at 8pm and kicked off 45 minutes and 15 commercials later.
we had 3 idiots on the field, 4 idiots in the studio, and 3 idiots up in the broadcast booth.
they have nothing to talk about. they run some nice replays of the sunday games, true.
there is only so much to say about a game before it's played.
there's no way you can do a pregame without being mindnumbingly repeptive.
i was thinking, 'by the time the game starts, i'm going to be over it."
they go on ad nauseum. you can tell by the types what each guy is supposed to bring. there's your street cred guy, your old white guy--they cover all the bases and say pretty much the exact same thing.
every network does it.
monday night football used to have thus great 3 minute opening, they would introduce the announcers, go to a break, and the ball would be in the air.
that was all the foreplay i needed.
3 hours of pregame. yuk!!!
monday countdown or whatever they call it.
ditka sit there, and puts on the new old jerseys(another marketting scheme).
strangely, really good tickets to the metropolitan opera and a new york giants game cost about the same.
why does the government subsidize pro football stadia. the old unused giants -jets stadium in the meadowlands still owes $200 million to pay off, and they built another one.
if the government wasted money like that on a concert hall or opera house with the other one not paid off, and with crumbling schools, all he11 would break loose.
football has way too much foreplay for old aloc, and costs way too much money, for what it is!!!!
