i noticed the new sunflower sign on a main street in the flats. my loyal computer has been limping along for 6 or 7 years with 248 meg ram it was born with.
i was, nonetheless, recording 20 hours per day of jazz, and building voluminous files of pictures.
i went in the door, explained my situation to the nice man behind the counter. i just had to have a new computer.
"you dont need a new computer", the man said. "a refurbished computer will run you about $130. all that you need is more ram and i can fix you up for what a steak and beer costs at outback".
"old ram is expensive and hard to get", i offered.
racing home, running a stoplight or two, i tried not to get hopes up.
i trusted computer folks the way i trust most car mechanics. they just want big gobs of my money.
in 5 minutes or less, the 2 sticks were installed, my 2003 machine was thoroughly dedusted inside, and was back together.
when plugged in, it lit up and windows came up.
"it's ok," he said. 'you'll love it."
after i nervously reconnected the many wires, i was crestfallen.
the internet wouldnt connect. the trusty cable had picked that very moment to be down.
my computer now has 2 gigs of ram, as opposed to the previous .25, and is humming smoothly, for the cost of a steak and beer.
if you dont have much money and your computer isnt up to stuff, look these guys up.
they might be able to help.
you wont see any of their ads, they dont need them.
