that universal all- american tabloid, usa today, printed a front page article last fall, either bought by or written for their major advertiser, kimberly clark.
(note the tasty positioning of the article directly above an expensive subway promotion.)
the article-ad heralded an important and revolutionary milestone in toilet paper production.
the item was to be test-marketed at walmart stores in the northeast.
the 'innovative' product was their special all-natural toilet paper roll with an all-natural hole, but without a cardboard center to ease fitting bathroom dispensers.
the new product consisted of all natural paper, rather than the commonly available 40% recycled product.
trendiness is not without it's cost.
how much extra will those tubeless rolls cost us?
why was this major front page news in usa today?
what will my cat play with?
how does marketting additional all natural product, save trees?
to be really natural, why doesn't kimberly clark market packages of colorful leaves on a popsicle stick without the natural hole, or possibly, decorative fragranced packets of grass?
