the sanctified dishrag

while flitting away the treadmill miles in the very wee hours of the am, my mind wanders to many places and times.

this morning, it took me to hundreds of restaurants where the waiter dutifully cleaned my table or counter with a dishrag that had wiped too many tables and often smells like dirty diapers.

those dishrags, and those in our own kitchens, are responsible for spreading many of the little germ creatures that cause us all kinds of illnesses and diseases.

i used to askthem if their dishrag had been microwaved.

i always got incredulous looks and comments like,

"your zany, mister."

i just eat at home now when possible.

dishwashers don't really kill all of those germs in that dishrag, nor does that hot water.

getting it really soaked with water and microwaving it just 2 minutes, will cause a steam that will kill all of those little microscopic germs.

smell that dishrag when it's done, or put it on a petri dish, and you will be pleasantly surprised, and you may not catch a bug.
